Urbandale Lions Club in Urbandale, IA
Urbandale Lions Club was started in 1945 and has been a very active supporter of community activities. Lions Park and the Ralph Whitten Shelter House as well as the Lions Head at the Athletic Field were built by this club. Urbandale Lions have also supported such projects and programs as the HS all-purpose track, youth groups, Scouts, State and local projects for the blind, Community Service Awards, School athletics, Honor Student banquet, Little League, Quest Program, girls’ softball, ice hockey, State Fair Older Iowans Contest, and many others. Cooperation with other civic groups has been an important part of the success of Lions Club projects. Major money raising projects include: Homecoming-Pancake Day, Fourth-of-July Bingo, Fourth-of- July Fireworks Button Sales, and parking projects.
